🐾 Breed guide

Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier, affectionately known as the Yorkie, is a tiny breed with an enormous personality. Originally bred in 19th-century England to catch rats in textile mills, Yorkies have since become one of the most popular toy breeds in the world. Despite their small size, they are fearless, confident, and full of energy. Yorkies are fiercely loyal to their owners and love being pampered – making them ideal lap dogs. Their beautiful, silky coat resembles human hair and is hypoallergenic, which is a big plus for allergy sufferers. In India, Yorkies are increasingly popular among apartment dwellers and urban families who want a compact, low-shedding companion with a big heart. They are alert watchdogs who will let you know the moment someone is at the door.
