Chow Chow
The Chow Chow is one of the most ancient and distinctive dog breeds in the world, with a history dating back over 2,000 years to the Han Dynasty in China. Instantly recognisable by its lion-like mane, deep-set eyes, and unique blue-black tongue, the Chow Chow looks like a living teddy bear but carries itself with the dignity of a cat. They were originally bred as all-purpose working dogs β guarding temples, pulling sleds, and herding cattle. Chow Chows are fiercely loyal to their family but maintain a proud, independent streak that makes them unlike any other breed. They are often described as "cat-like" in their aloofness, cleanliness, and self-sufficiency. They bond deeply with one or two people and can be reserved or suspicious of strangers. In India, the Chow Chow is admired for its stunning appearance and noble bearing, though their thick double coat requires careful management in the warm climate. They are quiet, dignified companions who do not demand constant attention but show their love through quiet, unwavering loyalty.
