Bolognese
The Bolognese is a rare and exquisite toy breed that takes its name from the Italian city of Bologna, where it has been cherished for over a thousand years. A member of the Bichon family, the Bolognese was the favoured companion of Italian nobility and Renaissance royalty β given as precious gifts between aristocratic families across Europe. The Medicis, the Gonzagas, and even King Philip II of Spain were devoted Bolognese owners. These little dogs have a distinctive, fluffy, cotton-like white coat that falls in loose, open curls, giving them a charmingly dishevelled, teddy-bear appearance. Unlike many small breeds, the Bolognese is remarkably calm, easygoing, and not prone to excessive barking or hyperactivity. They are deeply devoted to their owners and form an incredibly strong bond β they are true companion dogs who want nothing more than to be by your side. In India, the Bolognese is an extremely rare but delightful choice for those seeking a calm, hypoallergenic, and affectionate small breed. They are perfectly suited to apartment living and make wonderful companions for seniors and families alike.
