🐾 Breed guide

American Eskimo

The American Eskimo Dog, affectionately called the "Eskie," is a stunning breed known for its brilliant white, fluffy coat, sparkling dark eyes, and infectious smile. Despite its name, the breed actually descended from German Spitz dogs brought to America by European immigrants. American Eskimos come in three sizes – Toy, Miniature, and Standard – making them versatile companions for a variety of living situations. They are exceptionally intelligent and were once popular circus performers, dazzling audiences with their ability to learn complex tricks. Eskies are lively, curious, and love being the centre of attention. They form strong bonds with their families and can be wary of strangers, making them excellent watchdogs. In India, the American Eskimo is gaining popularity for its striking looks and spirited personality. Their thick double coat requires dedicated grooming, and they thrive in cooler environments.
