Pashmi Hound
The Pashmi Hound, also known as the feathered Caravan Hound or Silken Hound, is a rare and elegant Indian sighthound native to the Deccan Plateau of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Often considered the long-coated variant of the Caravan Hound (Mudhol Hound), the Pashmi is distinguished by its beautiful silky, feathered coat that gives it a regal, flowing appearance. These dogs are built for speed and endurance, with a lean, athletic frame that can cover vast distances effortlessly. Pashmi Hounds are deeply loyal to their families but tend to be reserved and aloof with strangers β a trait common among sighthound breeds. They have been used for centuries by Indian royalty and rural communities for hunting hare and other game. In recent years, there has been a growing effort to preserve and promote this indigenous breed, which is considered a national treasure. The Pashmi Hound is well-adapted to the Indian climate and thrives in warm, dry conditions.
