πΎ Breed guide
Japanese Spitz
The Japanese Spitz is a small, elegant companion breed known for its stunning pure white coat, fox-like face, and cheerful personality. Developed in Japan in the 1920s and 1930s by crossing various Spitz-type breeds, the Japanese Spitz was bred specifically to be the ideal companion dog β and it succeeds brilliantly. They are loyal, intelligent, and have a joyful, playful nature that brings smiles to everyone around them. Despite their luxurious white coat, Japanese Spitz dogs are surprisingly low-maintenance β their coat has a special texture that repels dirt and mud, earning them the nickname "the self-cleaning dog." They are alert and vocal, making them excellent watchdogs who will announce visitors with a sharp bark, but they are not excessive barkers. Japanese Spitz dogs are wonderful with children and adapt well to various living situations, from apartments to houses. In India, they are often confused with the Indian Spitz or Pomeranian, but they are a distinct breed with their own unique characteristics. Their bright, dark eyes set against their snow-white coat give them an irresistibly cute appearance.
