Deworming: the quiet essential
Indoor pets need it too — worm eggs hitch-hike on shoes and in food.
⚕️ This is general information for pet parents, not veterinary advice. Schedules and needs vary by pet — always confirm with your veterinarian.
Why every pet needs it
Worms rarely announce themselves. A pet can look perfectly healthy while parasites quietly steal nutrition — and some worms can pass to humans, especially children. Indoor pets are not exempt: eggs arrive on footwear, in raw food and via mosquitoes.
The usual rhythm
Dose is by body weight, so weigh before you dose — and let the vet pick the product; different worms need different actives.
| Life stage | Typical frequency |
|---|---|
| Puppies & kittens (2–12 weeks) | Every 2 weeks |
| 3–6 months old | Monthly |
| Adults | Every 3 months |
| Pregnant / nursing pets | As your vet directs |
Signs worth a check-up
- Pot-bellied look in puppies or kittens
- Dull coat, weight loss despite a good appetite
- Scooting or licking around the rear
- Visible rice-grain segments in stool or bedding
Grooming is health care too
Clean coat, trimmed nails, checked ears — every Petgully session covers the basics.
